Cherokee HS JROTC Program Earns Top Merit Award Cherokee HS JROTC Award 6 7 19

The Cherokee High School Air Force Junior ROTC Program has been selected as one of 102 units to receive the 2018-19 Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit with Merit Award. 

School Board Celebrates Successful Year of Service by Students CCSD Student Delegates 6 7 19

The Cherokee County School Board celebrated its Students Advisor and Student Delegates with a special send-off at the student representatives’ last meeting of the year.

CCSD Educators Complete Advanced Training in Co-Teaching! CCSD CIE 1 6 7 19

Seventy-five CCSD teachers have earned the Certified Inclusive Educator (CIE) designation after completing specialized training to better serve special education students.

The 10-month program, developed by CCSD’s special education department, provided teams of general education and special education co-teachers with training on best practices including research-based strategies and effective models, concluding with a capstone presentation by participants for their fellow teachers at their own schools.

Attention CCSD Parents: Book Sales Not Endorsed by CCSD

Attention CCSD Parents: Please be advised that we have received reports that a door-to-door salesman working in our community has allegedly told parents that he and his merchandise have been endorsed by CCSD.  That is untrue.  We have not and do not endorse any such materials or sales.  Thank you to the parents who brought this to our attention.

The Cherokee County School District and School Board celebrated the Class of 2019 Valedictorians and Salutatorians at its 19th Annual Scholar Recognition Banquet.

The evening at the Dr. Frank R. Petruzielo Educational Services Facility auditorium on Wednesday was attended by the Scholars and their parents; the teacher each Scholar chose as the most influential in his or her education; CCSD’s high school Principals; the Superintendent of Schools and members of his senior staff; and the School Board.

Congratulations to CCSD's Class of 2019! grad jump 2019

Cherokee County School District’s Class of 2019, made up of 3,000 students, will walk across the stage for graduation ceremonies next week! 

All ceremonies will be held at First Baptist Church of Woodstock (11905 Highway 92, Woodstock, 30188). The ceremonies will be streamed on www.fbcw.org so family and friends who are unable to attend still can participate.

The Cherokee County School District’s 2019-20 school year will begin on Thursday, August 1. 

Each school’s front office will be open daily beginning Monday, July 15; hours are limited, so please call before visiting.

CCSD Serves Free Summer Meals to Kids in Need CCSD 2019 Summer Feeding Program

CCSD is continuing its participation in the USDA Seamless Summer Option, which offers free meals to children during the summer – and rolling out a new delivery bus!

The meals are available to youth 18 years of age or younger; the program runs June 5 to July 19, Monday through Friday, with no meal service July 1-5. All meals must be consumed on site; the distribution sites and times are listed on the flier above; a menu is online here.

Free Reading Resources Can Stop the 'Summer Slide' books

When children do not read during the summer months, research suggests they may lose up to three months of reading ability. Stop the "summer slide" by taking advantage of free reading resources for students this summer. 

CCSD Announces Class of 2019 Valedictorians, Salutatorians! 2019 ccsd vals sals

Congratulations to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians for the Cherokee County School District’s Class of 2019! 

These students and their parents will be honored by the School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the 19th Annual Scholar Recognition Banquet on Wednesday.  Each student also is invited to select a favorite teacher, and these teachers are honored at the Banquet as well.

Message to Parents: New Anti-Vaping Policy no vaping image

On behalf of the Superintendent, please be advised that the School Board has unanimously approved a new tougher anti-vaping policy for next school year.

While CCSD’s student discipline code already prohibits the possession or use of vaping devices and oils anywhere on campus, this new policy (click here to read) adds more serious repercussions.

School Board Recognizes Inaugural East West Bank Scholarship Winner! CCSD East West Bank Scholarship 5 20 19

The Cherokee County School Board has recognized the winner of the inaugural East West Bank Scholarship!  The newly established Partnership Agreement between the School Board and bank specifies one $2,500 scholarship will be awarded by the Bank to a graduating senior from a CCSD high school each year. 

Cherokee HS Senior Wins Georgia Award of Excellence! Cherokee HS State Award 1 5 20 19

A Cherokee High School senior is one of only 17 students statewide to win a top honor from the Georgia Department of Education.

Jack Edmondson has earned the Award of Excellence, which recognizes Georgia high school seniors with special needs who achieve academic and/or extracurricular accomplishments.  He was honored by State Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods at a recent ceremony at the State Capitol and joined by his Cherokee HS geometry teacher Lorri-Ann Brogdon, who nominated him for the award.

CCSD Opening New Student Summer Registration Center CSR Logo English

The Cherokee County School District is beginning a new service for families registering students for school.

The Centralized Summer Registration Center will allow parents to complete the process for registering students -- in any grade who will be new to CCSD for the 2019-20 school year -- early in the summer break, rather than waiting for school front offices to reopen.

The Cherokee County School District has published its annual Financial Facts report, which provides highlights and snapshots from the proposed Annual Budget.

The report is posted online here and provides financial additional information to the community in advance of the School Board’s public hearings and budget adoption.
