We’re nearing the end of our seventh week of school with Fall Break ahead of us.  I hope this holiday allows our students and staff and all of their families time to rest, relax and recharge.

Whether you’re taking a vacation out of town or a staycation in Cherokee County, please keep your health and the health of your entire community in mind.

9/17/2020 CCSD Message: No To-Go Meals Service on 9/21 ccsd serves white square

CCSD School Nutrition will not offer to-go-meal service on Monday, Sept. 21, as CCSD schools will be closed for Fall Break.  You will receive an email the morning of Thursday, Sept. 24, with an online order form that is due by 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, for to-go meal pick-up on Monday, Sept. 28.  If you need food assistance during Fall Break, please contact one of the community food banks serving Cherokee County, which we have listed on our website at  Reminder: All CCSD families who think they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are asked to please complete the online application at  This approval will be needed to receive free and reduced-price meals after the temporary USDA program providing free meals to all students ends on Dec. 31.

CCSD Names Winners of Second Annual Support Staff Employees of the Year Awards CCSD SSOTY ES 2

The Cherokee County School District has surprised the overall winners of its second annual Support Staff Employees of the Year Awards!

The awards program honors one Support Staff Employee of the Year from each of CCSD’s schools, centers and central office divisions, and one overall CCSD winner is selected for each of three categories: Elementary School; Middle School/High School/Centers; Central Office.  These overall winners are selected by a committee of retired educators and community leaders.

CCSD School Nutrition Meals Free to All Students ccsd serves white square

Cherokee County School District families are receiving a new form of economic stimulus: free school meals for all students!

CCSD School Nutrition beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 will not charge any fees to any students for breakfasts or lunches through Dec. 31, 2020 (the end date is dependent on available funding), based on extended meal service flexibilities from the USDA.  There are no forms to complete or income eligibility requirements for this federally funded temporary relief program.

The Cherokee County School District is celebrating outstanding school volunteers through its Seventh Annual CCSD Volunteer of the Year awards!

Through the annual program, every CCSD school selects a Volunteer of the Year to honor.  From that pool of exceptional school volunteers, a committee made up of retired educators and community leaders selects an overall CCSD 2020 Volunteer of the Year.  This year’s winner is Brian Tomalavage, the Free Home Elementary School Volunteer of the Year!
