Senior Board Judges Needed!

Dear Sequoyah Community:

We are seeking community members to judge Senior Boards, an afternoon of Senior Capstone Project presentations. This event is a significant milestone for our seniors, and we need your help to ensure its success.

The date for this year’s Senior Boards is Thursday, December 6, from 2-4 p.m., which includes time for training on the rubric and for refreshments. Please note the time change from previous years. You will receive training on the expectations at 2 p.m. and will judge presentations until 4 p.m. The students are not doing blogs this year, so your time commitment will be limited to the two hours you are here to receive training and to see presentations.

If you are a returning judge, you will need to participate in the training as the requirements for the product have changed, along with the timeline. The Senior Capstone Project is now a one-semester project county-wide, which is the reason that Senior Boards have been moved to December.

We really need and appreciate your help in making Senior Boards a meaningful experience for our seniors. Thanks to all of you who come to help year after year, and we look forward to welcoming new faces this year!

#CCSD1stDay Message from Superintendent of Schools

Please see the following message to parents from Cherokee County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower:

Today, we found silver linings in our rain clouds.

No one wants to hear a forecast for rain on the first day of school.  It soaks those new school clothes and backpacks, but, of greater importance, it also makes the morning traffic more challenging and dangerous.

Our teachers and leaders carried on, many getting drenched as they greeted car riders in the process, but remaining enthusiastic and welcoming.  And you carried on, too, and we appreciate the patience and kindness you showed, especially as buses were slowed by the rain and car rider lines grew long.
