  • CCSD is the ninth-largest school system in Georgia, with 40 schools and centers and 42,200 students enrolled for the 2017-18 school year.
  • As one of the first school districts in the Nation to earlier achieve “District Accreditation as a Quality School System” from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), CCSD received high marks and was re-accredited for another five years in June 2017 by AdvancED.
  • The Georgia School Boards Association awarded the Cherokee County School Board its 2018 Quality School Board designation, which honors school boards that consistently model best practices and meet specific high standards of excellence.
  • CCSD was named an Innovative District for 2018 by The International Center for Leadership in Education – one of only 11 school districts in the Nation to be recognized with this top award for excellence in classroom instruction!
  • The average SAT Score for CCSD’s Class of 2017 is 1121… ranking CCSD as No. 1 among metro Atlanta counties! CCSD’s average SAT score margin is 61 points over the National average and 71 points over the State average.
  • CCSD’s Class of 2017 earned CCSD’s highest ever average ACT score, continued to outscore both National and State averages… and earned the second-highest average score in metro Atlanta — even as more students took the college entrance and placement exam (4% increase from 2016).
  • CCSD’s high schools all have been named AP Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and AP STEM Achievement Schools and, for the first time, all also were named AP Humanities Schools. Four (Creekview HS, Etowah HS, River Ridge HS and Woodstock HS) additionally were named AP Merit Schools.
  • CCSD’s high schools all have been named to The Washington Post’s 2017 list of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools.”
  • CCSD is a Top 10 District in the Nation for technology use in 2017… the 12th appearance for CCSD on this elite list from the National Digital School District Survey.
  • CCSD for its innovations in academic school choice has twice won National recognition from the MAGNA Award Program presented by American School Board Journal recognizing outstanding academic programs that advance learning… most recently in 2015 for its Cherokee Academies initiative.
  • CCSD earned National recognition for communications by bringing home five 2018 National School Public Relations Association Awards, which recognized the #CCSDfam social media campaign, the 2017 Annual Report of District Progress, the CCSD Connections parent newsletter and excellence in writing and news story videos.
