Update to quarantine after close contact/exposure: Students (ages 16 and older) and staff who are fully vaccinated do not have to quarantine after exposure, provided they are (and remain) asymptomatic. An individual is considered fully vaccinated if it has been at least 14 days (2 weeks) since the completion of the COVID-19 vaccination series (two doses in a two-dose series OR one dose in a one-dose series). Parents who are interested in having their child vaccinated against COVID-19 can find information about vaccines and vaccine availability on the Georgia Department of Public Health website at https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-vaccine. Note: Pfizer is the only COVID vaccine currently approved for children aged 16 and older. The other vaccines are approved currently for ages 18 and older. You will need to schedule an appointment at CVS or Walgreens or at one of the GEMA mass vaccination sites to ensure Pfizer vaccine is available for a child 16-17 years of age.
Effective January 11, CCSD schools are discontinuing the process of emailing out COVID-19 notification letters and instead will be updating the daily CCSD COVID-19 case and quarantine chart on our website in a more timely manner to maintain transparency. As case numbers have increased, the class and school notification letter process has slowed due to confirmation delays, demand on staffing and on our email system, and has, as a result, also slowed the updating of the webpage reporting case notifications. Parents whose children have had close contact with a student or staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19 will continue to receive a phone call from the school notifying them of the need for their child to quarantine.
Quarantined students will receive instruction online from home through our Canvas learning management system. Affected classrooms are deep-cleaned before reopening for use. Note: Quarantine numbers may be adjusted to reflect new information. Those cases whose quarantine period has ended will move to the bottom of the report (but will still be visible/accessible) where it is noted that those students and employees are eligible to return to school.
August 20 Update: Beginning with today's report, the cases that were added today are highlighted in blue. The cases that were moved from "Active" to "Eligible to Return" today are highlighted in green. These tables are cumulative to the start of each school calendar quarter. Also, we have noted which student cases are Digital Learners for clarification.
August 31 Update: Beginning with today's report, date breaks have been added to both tables. For Active cases, the date is when the case was originally posted. Because the date CCSD receives notification of a positive case can vary, cases posted the same date rarely move as a group from "Active" to "Eligible to Return". Cases that are moving to Eligible to Return will be shown in light gray type the day they are transferring out of Active.
October 12 Update: In addition to cases being reported daily, the daily case reports also will be stored by month.
December 3 Update: Cases will continue to be listed as Eligible to Return based upon a 14-day quarantine. New CDC and DPH guidance now allows students and employees affected by a quarantine to take specific actions to be eligible to return after 7 or 10 days.
