Mimms Boys and Girls Club

PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

BETWEEN

THE CHEROKEE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

AND

THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF METRO ATLANTA/MALON D. MIMMS CLUB CHEROKEE COUNTY

            This agreement entered into on this 21st day of June, 2018 by and between the Cherokee County Board of Education, hereinafter referred to as the “School Board ”and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta/Malon D. Mimms Club Cherokee County, hereinafter referred to as the “Club,”

            WHEREAS, the School Board’s mission is to educate the emerging generation through learning environments designed to increase the performance of all students; and,

            WHEREAS, one of the School Board’s Major System Priorities is to increase parental and community involvement through public engagement policies and practices that treat parents, businesses, community-based organizations and agencies, local institutions of higher learning and other public entities as true partners in the educational process; and,

            WHEREAS, another of the School Board’s Major System Priorities is to review the potential for utilizing the school district’s existing public education facilities to establish self-supporting community school evening/week-end education programs for interested Cherokee County adults; and,

WHEREAS, the Club’s mission is to provide quality developmental programs for Metro Atlanta youth, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to become productive adults and citizens; and,


            WHEREAS, the Club serves an important function to the youth of Cherokee County through their activities within the county.

            Now therefore in consideration of the covenants and conditions set forth herein the parties agree as follows:


ARTICLE I


            The parties agree that the foregoing recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference:

ARTICLE II


The School Board:

Will provide transportation of Holly Springs ES, Indian Knoll ES, Dean Rusk MS, and Sequoyah HS students to the Club as part of an extension to the bus route.


Will authorize principals of Hasty ES, Knox ES, Liberty ES, R.M. Moore ES, Freedom MS, Teasley MS, and Cherokee HS to work with the Staff of the Club to allow for pick-up and transportation to the Club at the expense of the Club.


Principal of each facility will provide a roll of students released to the Club daily.


Will pursue the opportunity for additional school/Boys and Girls Club recreational facility partnerships throughout the county as future plans are considered.


Pursue joint grant opportunities in both parties’ best interests.


Shall consider the opportunity for a joint site/facility development when determining the needs/location of future school sites, if suitable land were donated to the School District for these purposes.

ARTICLE III


The Club will:

Abide by the rules and regulations contained in the facility use contract at each facility and those contained in the Community Use of System Facilities Policy (KG), including custodial fees when applicable.


Provide each principal with an ongoing updated authorized transportation list weekly of students to be release to the Club.


Provide and communicate the offering of its service to elementary, middle and high school students.


Compare the roll of students released from school to attend the Club with those in attendance at the Club daily.


Supervise Club participants at all times, including upon the arrival of transportation from other schools. The supervisory ratio shall not exceed 25:1.


Adhere to Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s standards, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s standards and Club’s Board of Directors’ policies and procedures.


Pursue the opportunity for additional school/Boys and Girls Club recreational facility partnerships throughout the county as future plans are considered.


Pursue joint grant opportunities in both parties’ best interests.


To the extent possible, align the opening of its facility and programs with the School District’s school calendar.


Accept all children for participation within its programs without regard to their gender, race, political affiliation, age, national origin or disability or any other discrimination recognized and prohibited by State or Federal Law. Children with handicaps must be provided all necessary levels of supervision and must be included within camp activities. As a result of this partnership agreement, the Club must adhere to all local, State or Federal laws regarding education.


Provide an annual calendar of Club operations to the School District’s Transportation Department (denoting closures for professional development, etc.) for logistical purposes.

ARTICLE IV


The term of this contract is June 21, 2018 through June 21, 2019. This contract shall automatically renew for additional terms not to exceed five years unless either party notifies the other at least 60 days prior to renewal date.

ARTICLE V


            All proposed amendments to this contract shall be submitted to the Superintendent of Cherokee County Schools at PO Box 769, Canton, Georgia 30114, and to the Executive Director, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta/Malon D. Mimms Club Cherokee County at 1082 Univeter Road, Canton, Georgia 30115; and approved by the respective Boards.
