CCSD offers pre-kindergarten programs for 4-year-olds at several of its elementary schools. To begin pre-kindergarten in the 2021-22 school year, children must be born on or before Sept. 1, 2017.

CCSD Pre-K programs offer a full-day schedule that operates on the elementary school schedule (7:35 am to 2:15 pm). Space is limited and wait lists are common, but parents can search for available Lottery-funded Pre-K slots at private providers in their area at http://decal.ga.gov/ProviderSearch/PreK . The openings are updated in early September and then regularly throughout the year. CCSD also offers Pre-K classes at its Ralph Bunche Center in Canton.

Preschool and Head Start
In addition to lottery-funded Pre-K, CCSD operates preschool centers at four sites for children who have been identified as needing additional support in preparing for school. Children as young as 3 years old are eligible for services. Ralph Bunche Center, Holly Springs Preschool, Johnston Preschool and Oak Grove Preschool Centers happily serve more than 300 preschoolers for Cherokee County Schools. CCSD Preschool Centers offer Head Start and Special Needs Small Group and Inclusion programs.
Ninth District Opportunity Head Start for income eligible 3- and 4-year-olds is offered at Ralph Bunche Center in Canton and Johnston Preschool Center at Johnston Elementary School in Woodstock.
