The Cherokee County School District Cybersecurity program’s first class of students took a field trip to CCSD’s Technology & Information Services offices.
The new Career Pathway program is the inaugural offering for the CCSD College & Career Academy, also known as the C3 Academy, housed on the ACTIVE Academies campus in Canton. The 23 students, who are led by teacher Brent Hollers, spent a morning at CCSD’s Technology offices to learn how its staff protects the School District from external and internal threats on a daily basis.
In addition to answering student questions about cybersecurity, data protection and responsible use, the discussion also included an overview of technology career path options; professional soft skills to master; employer, employee and customer expectations; and potential earnings in the cybersecurity sector. The visit ended with a tour of CCSD’s Data Center.
