CCSD Educator Recognized for Teaching Students Digital Citizenship

Posted On: Monday, April 8, 2019

BOYSEN Lisa

Clark Creek ES STEM Academy Media Specialist Lisa Boysen has been named a Common Sense Media Educator for her dedication to teaching students digital citizenship.

Common Sense, a national nonprofit organization focused on educating students and parents about digital media safety, honors educators and schools for preparing students to avoid online dangers such as plagiarism, loss of privacy and cyberbullying.

The school as a whole previously has been named a Common Sense Certified School by the organization, and earned a renewal of that designation.

Common Sense Education's digital citizenship resources were created in collaboration with Dr. Howard Gardner of the GoodPlay Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  The free resources teach students, educators and parents skills related to Internet safety, protecting online reputations and personal privacy, managing online relationships and respecting creative copyright.

Ms. Boysen will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the School Board’s April 18 meeting.
