A Cherokee County School District band has earned regional recognition!
The Sequoyah High School Symphony Band has been selected to perform at the University of Alabama High School Honor Band Festival to be held Feb. 4-7, 2021.
This is the third regional invitation the band, which is led by Director of Bands and Orchestra Casey Eubanks, has received in the past five years. The band’s 2020 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluation Concert recording was submitted for consideration and selected from band programs auditioning from across the Southeast. That GMEA performance marked the 30th consecutive Superior Rating earned by the band in the past 10 years.
“We’re incredibly proud of Mr. Eubanks and his students for this impressive honor earned through many hours of practice and dedication to excellence – congratulations!” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “Our fine arts programs offer students outstanding opportunities to learn new skills, refine artistic talents and explore future careers. We know for many of our students that these classes and extra-curricular opportunities are the highlights of their high school career, and we thank the community for its continued support of the arts in our schools.”
