A Cherokee County School District teacher has earned a national scholarship to study abroad!

Sequoyah High School teacher Allison Webb has won the American Council on the Teaching for Foreign Languages’ French Langue Scholarship, awarded to only three teachers nationwide each year.  Ms. Webb teaches both French and Spanish at Sequoyah HS.

“Congratulations to Ms. Webb on earning this award,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We know she will bring back valuable knowledge to share with both her students and her colleagues at Sequoyah and throughout CCSD.”

The two weeks of immersive professional training for French language teachers will be held in Nice, France in the summer of 2021.  Participants “leave with ideas directly applicable in their class, teaching materials and authentic documents,” according to the Council.

“I am excited to have this experience to look forward to as we continue to build our French program!” Ms. Webb said of the honor.
