On behalf of the Superintendent, this message is to advise you of changes to schoolwide communications.
All CCSD schools now are using the Canvas system for sending all schoolwide emails. This is separate from the School Messenger system for CCSD emergency notifications. In order to receive emails from your school, such as Principal newsletters and other important news specific to your child’s school, please be sure to set up a Canvas parent account if you have not already done so. If you already are receiving emails through Canvas from your child’s teacher (the email will have the Canvas icon at the bottom), then you have set up a parent account and don’t need to take additional steps. Effective this afternoon, our schools are discontinuing the process of emailing out COVID-19 notification letters and instead we will be updating the daily CCSD COVID-19 case and quarantine chart on our website (https://bit.ly/CCSDcovidnotify) in a more timely manner to maintain transparency. As case numbers have increased, the class and school notification letter process has slowed due to confirmation delays, and demand on staffing and on our email system, and has, as a result, also slowed the updating of the webpage reporting case notifications. Parents whose children have had close contact with a student or staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19 will continue to receive a phone call from the school notifying them of the need for their child to quarantine.
