AMES Clubs 2022-2023

Chorus 4 and 5; 3rd if space permits Ms. Shiver Signup: A digital sign-up form will be made available via Canvas. Deadline to sign up is 8/23/22. Meeting on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30, August-March. This performance-based class focuses on learning to use the vocal instrument to create a healthy and pleasing sound. Concert performances outside of school hours or during school events may be required. Friends Club 4-5 Application Process Ms. Burden Deadline for application is August 19. Applications are outside Ms. Burden’s room. Meetings will be once a month from August -May on select Thursdays from 2:30-3:15. Friends Club is an opportunity for group of general education students to take the time to help students with exceptionalities at Arnold Mill Elementary. Garden Club 4-5 Ms. Forward Applications are due by August 19; Limit is 20 students. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 2:30-4:00. Meetings begin on August 25 for introductions. Encourages students to become stewards of the land around them, their school, and their own backyard.Academic Bowl 4-5 Ms. Manns Ms. Chadwick Mondays from 2:30-3:30 Enrich and enhance knowledge through multiple disciplines. Competition will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Dean Rusk Middle School. Reading Bowl 4-5 Ms. Zaski Application deadline will be announced soon; Meeting schedule will be announced. To foster a love of reading and introduce students to novels of excellence. Students will demonstrate knowledge of books in a school district Reading Bowl to be held on Saturday, January 28 at E.T. Booth Middle School. Junior Beta Club 5th grade students; Students are selected by National Junior Beta Club Standards. Ms. Stancil Ms. Morris Meetings October-May, biweekly, day of week TBA; BEFORE school. Recognizes high academic achievement, promotes character and social responsibility; encourages service involvement.Morning News 5th grade, application process Ms. Zaski Applications are due August 8; Auditions are August 17-18 by appointment; Meets August-May. Members will meet on assigned Friday mornings at 7:20. To deliver the school announcements each Friday via live broadcast to the classrooms. Orffestra 4 and 5; 3rd if space permits Ms. Shiver Orffestra online sign-ups will take place in early January. No auditions required. The only requirement is a previous history of responsible usage of instruments during regular music class. Meetings are January-March on Mondays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The purpose of this group is to enhance performance on “ORFF” mallet and percussion instruments through creating, performing, and responding to music while connecting the world of music to other areas of learning and personal endeavors. Science Olympiad 3-5; Application process Ms. Motil Ms. Fuss Applications in December; Meets weekly from January to March. Promote interest in science by challenging students to cooperate and work with others while solving science related problems. District competition to be held on Saturday, March 18 at River Ridge High School.Technology/STEM Club 3-5; Application Process Ms. Zaski Ms. Wilson Applications for STEM club will be available after the first week of school. Participation in the club requires a project submission to the CCSD Technology Fair. Monthly meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month at 2:45 in the Media Center until January. Application deadline is August 22. Prepare students for the school district Technology Fair – an annual student technology competition produced by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium. The competition is virtual and will be held on February 3. Projects are due in January. Ambassadors Club 5th grade, application process Dr. Pettit Ms. Hatcher Ms. Morris Application due: September 2. As student representatives, Ambassadors demonstrate positive character traits and leadership skills as they assist with various AMES programs throughout the year.PDF Version
