UPDATE 1/22/19: The link is now live here.
The Cherokee County School District is opening online registration for kindergarten beginning Jan. 22!
The new online system introduced last year allows parents to log in from home to the Registration Gateway via CCSD’s website at www.cherokeek12.net instead of handwriting information on a pile of paper forms in a school office.
The Gateway will open Jan. 22 for parents of children who will begin kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year (must be born on or before Sept. 1, 2014), and children who are starting school for the first time but are ready to enter the first grade (must be born on or before Sept. 1, 2013). Online registration systems will go live later this winter for pre-registering Pre-K students, and in the spring for students new to CCSD in any grade for the 2019-20 school year.
Through the user-friendly online process that takes about 15 to 20 minutes, parents enter their own identification information, such as emergency contact names and numbers, which increases accuracy and eliminates redundancy. Required enrollment documents (birth certificate, proof of residency, etc.) can be scanned and uploaded to the system from home.
After entering all their information online into our secure system, parents will be asked to pick a time to bring the legally required enrollment documents to their child’s school for a brief in-person verification (if you’re unable to scan and upload records from home, the office staff can do that for you during this visit).
For kindergartners, each school will contact its new families with information about a “first visit” for students in the spring to include a one-on-one academic assessment by a teacher to gauge kindergarten readiness.
