Meet the Principal - Ball Ground ES STEM Academy - Melinda Roulier 7 29 21

Our Principals are dedicated leaders, and we’ll be introducing you over the coming days to Principals who are new to the role or who are serving at new schools this year.  Please help us celebrate Melinda Roulier, who this school year will begin leading Ball Ground Elementary School STEM Academy!

Principal Melinda Roulier can’t wait to get to know her new Ball Ground Elementary School STEM Academy family.

“I am most looking forward to getting to know and becoming part of the Ball Ground community,” said the 20-year educator, who most recently served for four years as Principal of Mountain Road Elementary School.  “This community has a rich history and a deep sense of pride in Ball Ground Elementary.  I am honored to have been chosen as the school’s new Principal and will work collaboratively with the community to ensure the rich traditions continue and we pave even more roads to success for our students.”

She also brings to Ball Ground experience as a STEM school assistant principal, as she served for four years as an assistant principal at Clark Creek ES STEM Academy, CCSD’s first school to earn State STEM certification.  Principal Roulier served for 11 years at Boston ES as a teacher and an academic coach, and served as an academic coach at Oak Grove ES as well.

“My No. 1 goal in my career has always been to provide students with an environment where they feel safe, loved, and supported,” she said.  “That remains my No. 1 goal for the students of Ball Ground STEM Academy.  Our staff has been working diligently to get the building ready for all of our face-to-face students and plan for the addition of the CCSD Digital Learning staff and students to join our school family.  We will be honoring the legacy of Ball Ground by continuing to foster strong school-home-community relationships and support teachers in providing rich learning experiences in a well-managed and supportive learning environment.”

Principal Roulier earned two bachelor’s degrees: one in early childhood education from LaGrange College and one in social work from the University of Alabama, as well as a master’s degree in early education from Piedmont College and a specialist degree in educational leadership from Kennesaw State University.  She and her husband, Dave, have three sons.

“Melinda has made a name for herself as an outstanding educator and leader who excels in building positive relationships with teachers, students, parents and community partners,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish at Ball Ground as she builds upon its solid foundation to further expand learning opportunities for students.”

How can parents be more involved?  “The best way for parents to get involved with any school is to become a part of the PTA,” Principal Roulier said.  “Our PTA programs are such a huge support for our students and staff.  Parents can also help by volunteering in their child’s classroom, being a mystery reader, or supporting teachers with supplies for fun classroom activities.  Regularly visiting our website, Facebook, and Twitter and monitoring email for announcements, recognitions, and event reminders is another way parents can stay connected.  We are very excited to be able to have visitors and volunteers in the buildings this year as we really missed those interactions last year!”
