The Cherokee County School District is celebrating its first-ever Share the Love contest winners!

Thanks to the sponsorship of Credit Union of Georgia, CCSD this month gave families the opportunity to nominate an outstanding CCSD employee to win a $250 Visa gift card.  The contest was announced in the monthly CCSD Connections parent newsletter, and four winners were selected at random from all of the nominations.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower presented the gift cards to the four winners: Bascomb ES kindergarten paraprofessional Cassie McKenna, Creekland MS social studies teacher Eli Rollman, Creekview HS computer science teacher Amanda Fuder, and Free Home ES first-grade teacher Erin Thomas.

“We love our CCSD family, and in this season of sharing how much we care about our loved ones, we’re so grateful to be able to celebrate with these special gifts,” Dr. Hightower said.  “Thank you to all of our employees for all that they do to make our schools and our community a better place.”

The drawing was at random, but CCSD asked those entering the contest to share why the person they nominated deserved special recognition.  Here are excerpts from their submissions:

Ms. McKenna was nominated by parent Emily Huss. “She always gives her students her all.  You can tell that she really cares about them.”

Ms. Fuder was nominated by student Cade Smith.  “She is one of the nicest teachers I’ve ever had and I feel like she actually cares about me.  She is a good teacher and I really enjoy her class!”

Mr. Rollman was nominated by his wife, Traci, who also teaches at Creekland MS.  “He deserves a little extra love because he goes above and beyond for all of his students.  He works constantly to make sure all of his students are doing well, whether it is having good character, good mental health, and they are trying their best in their studies.  His passions include teaching, sports, and being a new father.”

Ms. Thomas was nominated by Brandi Ray, a parent and school lunchroom monitor.  “Mrs. Thomas is one of the best teachers around.  Our son is in her class and loves her with all his heart.  You can tell she genuinely loves (her) kids and has their best interest and success at heart.”
