School Board Salutes Police Department for 20 Years of Exemplary Service CCSD School Police Department 20th 3 25 19

The Cherokee County School Board is celebrating the CCSD School Police Department for its 20 years of exemplary service.  

Led since its establishment by Chief Mark Kissel, who has announced he will retire at the end of this school year, the Department consists of 20 police officers certified by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council, an Emergency Management Facilitator and office staff.

Very Important information regarding Transportation Changes!


The Bascomb Office has a new email address for transportation changes! EMAILS SENT TO THE OLD ADDRESS WILL NOT BE RECEIVED! Please make note of this important change!



All CCSD employee and student email addresses are changing, effective March 22nd.


Currently, all student and employee email addresses end with @cherokee.k12.ga.us but that will change on March 22nd. 

All accounts will be changed to a default of @cherokeek12.net.

Emails sent to the old addresses will still be received with the exception of the Bascomb Office.  

Effective immediately, please send transportation changes to Bascomb.Office@cherokeek12.net.  Emails sent to the old Bascomb office address will not be received. 


March Digital Learning Day Homework Assignment for all Students in K-5!


Have you heard the news?  March 26th through March 29th ALL K-5 students will have TWO REQUIRED Canvas Homework Assignments!  

April 24th - Relay for Life Kids Walk

The Relay for Life Kids Walk will be held at Bascomb Elementary School on Wednesday, April 24th from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

March 25 - 29 Must Ministries Food Drive

The Jr. Beta Club is collecting donatations for Must Ministries Food Pantry.  The items in short supply are: boxed dinners, canned fruit, tomato sauce with meat, broth/stock, jelly, oil, canned/boxed potatoes, and canned mixed vegetables.Collection bins will be located in the front lobby.There will be a special collection on Thursday, March 28th when parents and students may donate items directly to the Beta Club members during morning car rider drop off. All items will be picked up on Friday, March 29. Food collected will go to students in our community.

This contest showcases the excellent writing instruction that is taking place in each of CCSD’s schools, grade levels K-12. The winning students’ writings have been sent to the North Georgia RESA Competition where winners of that contest will be determined by mid-April. At that time, RESA will send notification of winning writings that will proceed to the State Competition to be held in June, 2019.  Good luck to those students! We are very proud of you!



Help Etowah Student and Former Bascomb Bobcat's Dream Come True!

Etowah High School Student, and former Bascomb Bocat, Anderson Sisk, has been selected by an organization called Dream on 3 to participate in something really special.  This organization helps make athletic dreams come true for students with special needs or extreme illnesses.

Thanks to all who participated in the Box Tops contest.  We raised $256.70 for Bascomb!  

Mrs. Berenger’s class submitted the most Box Tops, so her class will receive ice cream coupons. Congratulations!

CCSD Kicks Off Second Annual "Get Cherokee Reading" Event! CCSD Get CCSD Reading 2019

The Cherokee County School District is celebrating the importance of literacy with its second annual month-long “Get CCSD Reading” campaign! 

In support of the statewide Get Georgia Reading initiative, the program kicks off with Read Across America Day on Friday, a nationwide reading event that coincides with renowned children’s book author and illustrator Dr. Seuss’s March 2 birthday.

CCSD Seeks to Score with Math Campaign and Competition CCSD Math Madness 2 27 19

The Cherokee County School District seeks to score with a new math campaign and competition connected to the excitement of college basketball’s “March Madness.”

The month-long CCSD Math Madness celebration begins this week in schools across CCSD, with activities planned by the Office of Curriculum & Instruction that encourage problem-solving, real-world math application… and fun!  Students in kindergarten through fifth grade also will have the chance to win prizes through an i-Ready Math March Madness competition using CCSD’s online math system.

CCSD Kicks Off Strategic Plan Initiative with Community Engagement Strategic Planning Community Meeting 2.25

The Cherokee County School District has kicked off a significant update to its five-year Strategic Plan and began the process with community engagement.

The School District, with the support of the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA), is developing a new plan aligned with the community’s vision for the future and designed to be better understood and appreciated by the community and more accurately implemented and measured by CCSD staff.

Tardy Bell Rings - 7:40 a.m. (This is a new start time!)

No dismissals after 1:45 p.m.

School Day Ends - 2:15 p.m.

Buses dismiss before car riders.
