Elevate 2032: The Road to Our Next Strategic Plan

A school district's strategic plan guides the work of the school board and staff over a period of time, usually spanning several years.  It gives the district direction and focus.  A strategic plan is derived from asking questions about where the district is going and how we hope to get there.   What opportunities do we want to create for students and  for employees?  What do we want our families and our community to be able to count on? How will we improve student outcomes?  How will we support and retain staff? How will we engage families? How will we ensure operational effectiveness? How will we know if we are succeeding?

CCSD has operated with strategic plans in the past, most recently Blueprint, which ended in 2024.

Since May of 2024, we have had annual key priorities that were developed through the listening and soliciting of insights and ideas from employees, parents, community members and students that were woven together into the Key Priorities that annually focused our work.  This has been accompanied by Quarterly Accountability check-ins that are presented in school board meetings and archived on our district website.   This process has been about listening, saying what we are going to do, going about  doing it and then holding our selves publicly accountable for having done what we said we were going to do.  However, this has had its share of limitations given that we need a longer-range view than just one year.

Elevate 3032:  Our next strategic plan will guide the work of the school district over the next five years.  A steering committee of 200 people representing schools, parents, students, teachers and staff will guide the process, and our School Board kicked off the journey last month.  There will be dozens of school-based meetings happening in March and April, including a public forum and a communitywide survey.

Feb. 26, 2026:  The School Board worked through the community engagement piece of the strategic planning process at its Whole Board Training in February.  Board members discussed involving stakeholders in the planning process and how best to target specific groups for feedback.

March 2, 2026:  Today we kicked off a community engagement campaign as we develop a plan for our future.  The CCSD Strategic Plan Steering Committee, made up of the Principal, Teacher of the Year, Support Staff Employee of the Year, PTA President, and a Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council representative or Student Delegate to the School Board for each of our schools, met to begin the work to develop a long-range strategic plan. We will be meeting with more stakeholders over the coming weeks and will announce details soon for a community forum.
