Red Hawk Logo

Good evening RedHawk Nation,

Guess what?  The RedHawks Reading Bowl team won 2nd place in the District competition this weekend!  We are so proud of the hard work of our kids, the dedication of our coaches, and the support of our parents!

There is more!  Our Technology and Engineering labs (Odyssey Lab - Ms. Bailey and Innovation Lab Ms. Gauthia) have been named 2020 Program of Excellence Award winners by the International Technology and Engineering Association!  Your school’s technology and engineering education program is truly exemplary among other programs in your state, at your school’s level. You know more than anyone the tremendous amount of work and dedication that is required to design, maintain, and improve quality programs like yours. What is the result of your dedication? Who benefits? Primarily, your students are the ones who will have richer lives for having participated in your program. Not many endeavors are more important than helping students become technologically literate and learn more about the world around them. Thank you for investing in your students!

Word of the Week: Resourcefulness – Clever, creative, imaginative, & inventive

Our character words are important for Red Hawks to not only know but also exhibit inside and outside of school. Here at Clark Creek students apply knowledge of problem-solving to new situations & reflect on their problem-solving processes. Teachers encourage the use of technology & promote independence and collaboration.

Don’t forget our Club Picture Day will be on 1/28!

$1.00 PJ DAY – We are raising money for Pennies for Patients on Friday, January 31st.

All proceeds will go to help children with Leukemia & Lymphoma (types of blood cancer).

#thanksCCSD:  Don't forget your child can thank a CCSD teacher for all the wonderful things they do throughout the year.  Remind your child they can fill out a #thanksCCSD notecard as a simple way to show their appreciation.  Look for the small black mailbox and blank notecards located in the front office.  You can also access the cards electronically using the link provided.   https://www.cherokeek12.net/Content2/thanks-ccsd.

Reading is the Key to Learning!

Do you want your child to become a successful reader?  Are you wondering how you can be a part of their learning to read?  Become an active participant in your child’s daily reading.   Attached are several tips to help you and your child foster a love for reading together.

Have you noticed the book boxes in the parent café area?  Next time you eat lunch with your child, we have provided books for you to read with them.  There are also several comprehension cards you can use when you finish the book.  This is a great way to have a meaningful conversation with your child.

STEM Sisters - A new after school club for 3rd-5th grade students will be starting up in February on Tuesdays.  Members will explore and discuss the paths/challenges faced by different women in their STEM journeys and learn about exciting career possibilities.  Additionally, STEM activities and speakers will be included to enhance the learning. Check out the attached flyer if you are interested.

Clark Creek’s current enrollment is 1206, and our average daily attendance for the month is 96.3%.  The average rate for CCSD elementary schools is 96.2%.  WAY to go RedHawks!

Believe it or not, it is time to prepare for 20-21 SCHOOL REGISTRATION FOR KINDERGARTEN!

Be sure to share this information with your neighbors too!

CCSD Online System for Kindergarten Registration Opens Jan. 27th!  This system introduced in 2018 allows parents to log in from home on any device to access the Registration Gateway via CCSD’s website instead of handwriting information on a pile of paper forms in a school office.

The kindergarten  Registration Gateway will open Jan. 27, 2020 for parents of children who will begin kindergarten in the 2020-21 school year (must be born on or before Sept. 1, 2015), and children who are starting school for the first time but are ready to enter the first grade (must be born on or before Sept. 1, 2014). Only a parent or legal guardian, living in Cherokee County at the same address as the student, may enroll a student. Additional online systems will go live later this winter for pre-registering Pre-K students, and this spring for students new to CCSD in any grade for the 2020-21 school year.

For kindergartners, each school will contact its new families with information about a “first visit” for students in the spring to include a one-on-one academic assessment by a teacher to gauge kindergarten readiness.
