Advanced Placement (AP)
The Cherokee County School District partners with College Board to provide students in grades 9–12 with a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. AP courses are rigorous, college-level classes taught by specially trained high school teachers, designed to inspire a love of learning and prepare students for success in college and beyond.
Through AP, students engage in challenging academic work that develops critical thinking, problem solving, time management, and effective study skills. They explore subjects in depth, think analytically, and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts—skills that align with the AP vision of empowering all motivated students to reach their full potential.
At the end of each AP course, students have the opportunity to take an AP Exam. Many U.S. colleges grant college credit and/or advanced placement for qualifying AP scores (typically 3 or higher)—which can allow students to skip introductory coursework or earn credit before even beginning college.
Below is a list of AP courses offered across Cherokee County high schools. Please note that availability may vary by school. For details about specific courses and enrollment, contact your local high school.
