High School Graduation Rate

The Cherokee County School District’s graduation rate for the Class of 2025 topped the state average, with three schools exceeding 95%!
The CCSD four-year graduation rate is 91.8%, according to a new report from the Georgia Department of Education released today, exceeding the state average of 87.2% by nearly 5%. Georgia, along with the rest of the U.S., calculates graduation rates based upon a four-year cohort methodology.
“Congratulations to our graduates on this impressive achievement! Thank you to our teachers, support staff and administrators for their unparalleled talent and unmatched dedication reflected in the success of our students. Thank you to our School Board for its investment in ensuring our students are learning more, growing more and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else,” Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said. “Our mission is to be the highest performing school district in Georgia, and key to that success in seeing every student graduate future ready, whether their next chapter is college, career, military service or more than one of these options. Thank you to our community for your continued support as we elevate the excellence in our school district together!”
School Board Chair Janet Read Welch congratulated teachers, educators, and families on this success.
“One of the many measurements of success for our students is the high school graduation rate. Once again, CCSD outpaced the state of Georgia for the four-year cohort rate. Every high school in our district showed growth in either the four- or five-year cohort. Another exciting measure is that our Special Education department increased its four-year graduation rate for the second consecutive year,” she said. “I am grateful for the teachers who work consistently with their students to achieve their diploma and for the parents who support their students every step of the way. Well done, Cherokee County teachers, students and parents!”
Creekview HS reported CCSD’s top Class of 2025 graduation rate of 97.0%, with Woodstock HS at 96.0% and River Ridge HS at 95.7% also exceeding 95.0%. Sequoyah HS reported 94.7%, followed by i-Grad Virtual Academy with 92.7%, Etowah HS with 92.5% and Cherokee HS with 82.1%. The district’s overall four-year rate dipped slightly from last year’s all-time high of 93.5%.
The results released today also included the five-year graduation rate, representing students who needed additional time to earn required credits. The district’s rate increased to 94.8% in 2025 up from 93.7% in 2024.
The school district additionally, for the second consecutive year, saw growth in the four-year graduation rate for students served through Special Education, increasing to 86.9% in 2025 up from 85.3% in 2024. This rate also exceeds the state average, which was 78.4% for 2025.
