CCSD Fine Arts Event Claendar

From inspiring art exhibitions and award-winning theatre productions to marching band exhibitions, orchestra concerts, and choral showcases, the Fine Arts are an essential part of the Cherokee County School District experience. Students receive weekly instruction in visual art and music at the elementary level and can continue their artistic journey through visual arts, theatre, band, chorus, and orchestra opportunities in middle and high school. Eighth-grade students may even earn high school Fine Arts credit, providing an early pathway to advanced coursework and specialized programs.

Beyond the classroom, students participate in a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including the district's Academy Street Theatre Group, which brings together performers from across Cherokee County, as well as marching bands, theatre productions, musical ensembles, and visual arts organizations. These experiences foster creativity, collaboration, communication, and leadership while helping students develop artistic proficiency.

CCSD Fine Arts students and programs have earned recognition at the regional, state, and national levels through GHSA One Act championships, Georgia All-State Band, Chorus, and Orchestra selections, Governor's Honors Program finalists, Congressional Art Competition and Atlanta High School Art Exhibition recognition, and Superior ratings at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations. Our Fine Arts educators include a Georgia Teacher of the Year Top 10 Finalist, featured presenters at state and national conferences, and directors who have performed and conducted at Carnegie Hall. Students and programs have also been featured at national conferences and performed on international stages, reflecting a long-standing tradition of excellence across music, theatre, and visual arts.

CCSD has an emphasis on Fine arts at Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy and Oak Grove Elementary School STEAM Academy (STEM + fine arts) where the arts are integrated into K-5 instruction. Parents can choose for their children to attend a Fine Arts Academy each February during school reassignment (for the following school year).
