Students begin exposure to chorus in elementary school through their weekly music class. Most elementary schools have a student chorus that performs at various events through the year. In middle school, students can take chorus as an elective, and advanced students can take Chorus I for high school credit.
High schools have additional chorus classes as well as several opportunities for students to perform as part of ensembles. They also can compete in the Georgia High School Association's music portion of the literary competition, in solo, trio and quartet categories. CCSD also hosts auditions for the Governor's Honors annual summer camp for gifted music and voice students, in addition to academic areas.
