The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for Social Studies prepare students to be informed and participatory citizens in their communities, nation and world. Through the study of economics, geography, government/civic responsibilities and history, students cultivate a working knowledge of United States history and government, national and world events, world cultures and economics. Students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to function in a democratic society. The inclusion and formation of literacy skills within the curriculum ensures students will possess the necessary communication skills to prepare them for their future endeavors.
