Annual GaDOE IDEA Parent Survey

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is surveying parent of students with disabilities throughout the state of Georgia.

In order for all students to graduate prepared to achieve a lifetime of success, families need to be an important part of the school team. To raise success rates for students with disabilities,  the Georgia Department of Education asks parents to answer questions to assist local schools in finding ways to partner with families.

Yes. You will fill out one survey for each child with an IEP. When completing multiple surveys, base your responses on your experience with the individual school serving you child .

Most families decide which parent will fill out the survey. Because the surveys go out one to a child, families only get one survey per child.

No. Your answers are anonymous. Surveys are assigned a coded number-no names.

Geographic areas, ethnicity, and disability group data are collected to ensure the results are valid and reflect the overall demographics of the state.

The Georgia Parent Satisfaction Survey helps to determine parents’ perception of the success of parent engagement between the local school and themselves.

The Information gathered as a component of the State Performance Plan, Indicators 8: Percent of parents with students receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving results for children with disabilities. 

The data collected is reported in the Annual Performance Report and on the system profile about each system.  Each state is required to conduct a parent survey collection process to measure parent/family needs and perceptions.
