CCSD Student Personal Safety Lessons
What is Erin’s Law? Erin’s Law is a state-mandated initiative designed to ensure that all students receive appropriate age-instruction on personal safety and the prevention of sexual abuse. This law emphasizes the importance of equipping children with the knowledge and skills to recognize unsafe situations, establish boundaries, and seek help when needed. The age-appropriate Child Personal Safety learning activities will focus on topics such as:
- Recognizing safe and unsafe situations.
- Understanding the concept of personal boundaries.
- Identifying trusted adults and knowing how to seek their help.
- Developing communication skills to express feelings and concerns.
A grade-level overview of the lessons by grade level can be found below:
K–2nd: Safety basics & trusted adults
3rd –5th: Awareness & speaking up
6th–8th: Boundaries, relationships & digital safety
9th : Protection, advocacy & real-world application
10th–12th: Human Trafficking Awareness
