Georgia Climate Survey: Feb. 3-March 13

collage of three covers of survey instruments from the Georgia Dept of Education

The Georgia School Climate Survey (GSCS) is a suite of surveys, aligned with Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement, that will provide more actionable data for district and school leaders, reduce the number of questions for students, and eliminate most other GaDOE survey requirements.  Responses are confidential-- names are not linked to these surveys.

There are surveys for four specific audiences:

  • Parents/Family
  • Students (grades 3-5 and grades 6-12)
  • Teachers
  • Support Staff

Dear CCSD Parents and Guardians,

The partnership between the Cherokee County School District and the families of our students is highly valued as we work collectively toward Elevating the Excellence for all students.  Please see a reminder of our upcoming required participation in a staff, parent, and student survey for the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

As part of the requirements of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), students, parents, and staff members will be asked to complete the Georgia School Climate Survey (GSCS). The Georgia Student Climate Survey (GSCS) is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument created by the Georgia Department of Education in collaboration with other state partners. The GSCS is administered online each year to students in grades 3-12. Middle and high school students (grades 6-12) participate in the standard survey and elementary students (grades 3-5) participate in an abbreviated survey. Survey results assist in the identification of safety, climate, and health issues that may impact school security efforts, student achievement, and school intervention strategies.

The CCSD participation window for the Georgia School Climate Survey is scheduled for February 3rd through March 13th. Each school has devised an individual plan for conducting the survey and will share more information regarding the Georgia Parent Survey with you. If you prefer that your student(s) opt-out of the Georgia School Climate Survey, please use the link provided in the SY2025-2026 Cherokee County School District Student Parent Handbook (English page 33 and Spanish page 38).  The CCSD Student Parent Handbook can be found HERE. For parents who would like to opt-out of participation for their student, please complete the opt-out form by the end of the business day on Monday, February 2nd. If you have more than one student, you will need to complete the form for each student that you would like to opt-out of the survey.

For questions regarding the Georgia Climate Survey, please feel free to reach out to your child's school principal or visit the Georgia Department of Education website at www.gadoe.org
