My name is Laura Burgess Martin and I am a cum laude graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, SC where I received the degree Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree. I also received a Master of Music in Music Education degree from the University of Georgia. In 2014, I was named one of Converse College's 125 Outstanding Alumnae in honor of the college's 125th anniversary.
This is my first year as choral director at E.T. Booth. Prior to coming to E.T. Booth, I taught at a private school in metro Atlanta and at Woodstock Middle School. In 2011, my 8th grade chorus was selected by juried audition to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference. My students participate in various honor choirs including All-State, All-District, and All-County Honor chorus. My choirs also participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation where they consistently receive superior ratings in performance and sight-reading.
I accompany choirs on flute and piano and have directed various district and county level honor choirs. I am a member of the Cherokee Chorale and serve as webmaster for the Georgia chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
I am married to Scott Martin, choral director at Creekview High School. We have two children - ages seven and four.
