Introduction to Healthcare Science: This course will introduce you to many foundational concepts in healthcare. You will be exposed to a variety of different healthcare careers, learn communication skills, discuss legal and ethical issues, and apply safety and infection control principles in healthcare. You will have the opportunity to be CPR and First Aid certified. Join this class to participate in hands-on skills and gain knowledge that will give you an opportunity to excel in your future healthcare career. Students can also be a part of the organization HOSA: Future Health Professionals.

Introduction to Collision and Repair: Do you like cars? Do you like computers? Do you like to use your imagination to create things? Intro to Collision Repair is where you want to be!  Learn about tools of the trade, dent removal, prep, primer & painting of vehicle body panels.  Add to your skill set with changing and balancing tires, alignments, tear down and rebuild of engines and sheet metal projects. You can also join the Engine Build Team and win a scholarship!

Introduction to Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security: Law and justice classes address four main areas: Corrections, Enforcement, Criminal Investigation, and Judiciary.  Prepare you for a career in the law field…ranging from a lawyer to a S.W.A.T. officer and everything in between.  Even if you do not go into a career in criminal justice, you will leave this class with a greater appreciation of law enforcement officers, an understanding of the judicial system, and better understand of your constitutional rights.

Introduction to Digital Technology: Exposure to foundational knowledge in hardware, software, programming, web design, IT support, and networks. Taught in a computer lab with hands-on activities and project-focused tasks. Students will play with circuit boards, make games and apps. Programming languages include: Python and Javascript.

IDT Course satsifies entrance for pathways:

  • AP Computer Science or
  • Internet of Things

Courses for Levels 2 & 3 satisfies Foreign Language or Science Credit

Introduction to Drafting and Design: Learn how to use 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) programs in this project-based course. Students will learn methods of design for Architecture and Engineering by creating both architectural and mechanical designs. CAD software used includes AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Revit. Pathway completers can earn software certification through Autodesk.  First course in BOTH Architectural Drafting and Design Pathway as well as Engineering Graphics and Design Pathway

JROTC: Leadership, Life Skills, and the Science of Flight:  JROTC is America’s elective and is now Etowah’s fastest growing elective focused on three primary things: citizenship, leadership, and scholarship. Audio-Video Technology and Film I: In this projects-based class you will learn the basics of camera operation, how to set up a tripod, how to correctly choose and use a microphone, video editing, lighting and scriptwriting.  Students learn with hands on activities and collaborative groups in an upbeat atmosphere.  Take a break and use the left side of your brain. Thinking creatively will give you an edge in the job market.

Learn to cook in an innovative kitchen lab where collaborative groups make it even more fun.  Students have opportunity to join the club Family and Career Community Leaders of America, (FCCLA).  A completer of this pathway can become ServSafe certified.

Construction 1: Designed as the foundational course in the Carpentry pathway to prepare students for pursuit of any career in construction. Prepares the trainee for the basic knowledge to function safely, how to properly use hand tools, power tools, and the basic knowledge needed to be on or around a construction site.  Provide the trainee with the option for an Industry Certification in the Construction Core.
