All CCSD elementary school students attend music class each week with a dedicated music teacher. Beginning in middle school (6th grade), students can choose to participate in band at all seven CCSD middle schools and orchestra at selected schools as an elective. Advanced students can take Beginning Band or Beginning Orchestra for high school credit in eighth grade. All six CCSD high schools have marching bands that perform during football season and at special events, and also participate in competitions for ratings.
