Federal Program Feedback

American Rescue Plan (ARP) Feedback

As a part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act ESSER III, Cherokee County School District has received a budget of $35.6 million in federal funds to be expended through June 30, 2024.  The school system is required to create a plan for spending the federal funds aligned to the allowable use of funds from the state and federal levels.  All expenditures within the budget are subject to approval at the local and state levels.  School districts are required by the U.S. Department of Education to use at least 20% of ARP funds to “address learning loss through the implementation of evidence-based interventions,” with the remaining funds to be used to support needs determined by the school district.

Cherokee County School District plans to use the ARP funds in the following ways:

  • Additional Staff to support the needs of students
  • Professional Learning for teachers and staff on research-based best practices
  • Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) equipment and resources
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) equipment and resources
  • Dropout Prevention
  • Safety Enhancements through additional police officers and cleaning
  • Math resources and manipulatives
  • English Language Arts (ELA) resources
  • Remediation and Enrichment resources and opportunities
  • Expanded Learning Opportunities
  • Summer School (High School)
  • STEM Camp (Elementary School/Middle School)
  • Reading Resources (Elementary School)

As amendments are made to the original budget and approved by the GaDOE, an updated list of expenditures will be shared.
