Our Principals are dedicated leaders, and we’ll be introducing you over the coming days to Principals who are new to the role or who are serving at new schools this year.  Please help us celebrate Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy’s new leader: Principal Dr. Maria Rosario-Regan!

Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy is celebrating homecoming with the arrival of new Principal Maria Rosario-Regan!

Dr. Rosario-Regan served as an assistant principal at Hasty for six years before joining CCSD’s Office of Curriculum & Instruction in 2018 as a Title I program administrator.  The 24-year educator began her career as a teacher in New York and North Carolina before coming to CCSD in 2005 as a teacher at Knox Elementary School.

“I am extremely honored to rejoin the Hasty community as the new Principal,” Dr. Rosario-Regan said.  “I am looking forward to working with our dynamic staff, dedicated parents and involved community members.  Most of all, I look forward to working with your children and continuing the outstanding work that is taking place at Hasty Elementary.”

Dr. Rosario-Regan earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and psychology and master’s degree in literacy, followed by specialist and doctorate degrees in education leadership.  A BEST Mentor, she is endorsed to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages, is a Microsoft Innovative Educator, and has graduated from Superintendent’s Leadership Academy I, II and III.

“We’re so proud of Dr. Rosario-Regan and join the Hasty Huskies in welcoming her back in this new role,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “She has the knowledge, skills and heart to successfully serve students and their families and lead her team of educators and staff.  We look forward to seeing all that we know she will accomplish.”

She and her husband, Andre Regan, who is an athletic director with Atlanta Public Schools, have two sons, Jelani and Jebrai, who both graduated from Woodstock High School.

How can parents be more involved? “Hasty Elementary invests in our families by hosting multiple Parent Engagement events throughout the year to build parent capacity and partnerships with our families,” Dr. Rosario-Regan said.  “I encourage every parent to make every effort to attend the Parent Engagement events and build positive relationships with our teachers.”
