Hasty ES Fine Arts Academy Teacher Wins STEM Grant GATEC 2020 Winner Holt Hasty ES

A Cherokee County School District teacher is one of only five in the state to win a competitive STEM grant!

Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy teacher Rebekah Holt, who leads the school’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Lab classes, earned the $3,000 Georgia Educational Technology Consortium Innovation Grant for her Mindful Designs project.  The grants are awarded to the State’s most innovative educational technology projects to improve teaching and learning.

CCSD Appreciates Its Bus Drivers! bus driver appreciation

CCSD recognized its school bus drivers on Tuesday morning with a drive-through breakfast and gifts.  CCSD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Hightower visited with drivers at two bus maintenance facilities, passing out Chick-fil-A biscuits and goody bags from sponsors. 

Hasty ES Fine Arts Academy Earns Digital Certification Common Sense Digital Citizenship logo

Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy has earned national certification for digital citizenship!

The school has been honored by Common Sense Education as a Common Sense Certified School for Digital Citizenship.  The national organizations helps schools teach students how to use technology safely and adopt positive digital skills and habits.

Board Business Briefs: School Board Hears of Potential State Funding Concerns BOE Meeting Oct. 15 2020 (1)

The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday heard an update on potential State funding concerns for next school year.
During its pre-meeting work session, School Board members began the planning work for its annual Legislative Partnership Priorities, a list of top issues it would like to see addressed by Cherokee County’s State legislators during the General Assembly Session.  The report typically is shared by the School Board with the Delegation at a meeting in early December prior to the legislative session’s start in January.

On behalf of the Superintendent, please be advised of several important decisions in regard to CCSD school operations:

  • HYBRID MODEL: The three high schools currently operating on a hybrid model – Creekview, Etowah and Woodstock High Schools – all will resume traditional in-person instruction (five days a week) beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 (Monday, Oct. 12, is a scheduled school holiday for all students/professional development day for teachers and staff).  This decision does not affect students currently enrolled in Digital Learning.

CCSD Student of the Day Student of the Day Michael Scheetz

Congratulations to Michael Scheetz in Mrs. King's 4th grade class as CCSD's Student of the Day!  Michael is a kind and caring young man. He is the big brother every kid wants to have.  His favorite subject is art.  He loves to play video games and baseball.  Congratulations Michael!  Hasty is so proud of you!

The first day of school- August 3 is fast approaching.  Please be on the lookout for a letter coming in the mail that details your child’s teacher for the 20-21 school year. In the link below view a   video message by our Hasty teachers.

  • Take the Important Parent Survey by Thursday, July 30th to allow our staff to know how your child will go home from school. You will only need to complete one survey per family.
