4-H Club

4-H Club is open to all 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. 4-H is a community of young people across America and beyond who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. The club takes place on Thursday once a month from 2:30 – 3:45 in Mrs. Savage's room

Academic Bowl  

The Academic Bowl is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this team students must apply and then take an assessment with questions from all subject areas. The purpose of Academic Bowl is to recognize student scholastic aptitude, inspire students to excel academically, stimulate the students' competitive spirit and promote good citizenship. The team practices on Tuesdays from 2:20-3:15 during the second semester. The countywide competition is held in the spring.

Basketball Club  

Basketball Club is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Basketball club involves basketball drills and playing games! This club is designed around having fun, more than skill improvement. The club takes place on Mondays during the first semester from 2:30 – 3:30.

Friends Club  

Friends Club is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Friends Club builds character and leadership through working with other students. This club takes place during the school day.

  Gallery 701 Art Club  

Gallery 701 Art Club is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. The Gallery 701 Art Club provides students with an opportunity to share ideas and have fun making a variety of art projects. This club takes place on the third Wednesday of every month starting in October from 2:30 – 3:30.

  Gardening Club  

Gardening Club is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. The Gardening Club helps beautify our campus while learning about the environment and healthy eating habits. This club takes place on the fourth Monday from August-October and then picks back up from March-May from 2:30 – 3:30.

HFES Writing Club

HFES Writing Club is open to all 2nd-5th grade students.  In order to become a member of this club, students must apply.  Students will write, individually and collectively, and share their works of art with their peers as a way to increase joy and skill of written expression.  The club takes place on Monday once a month from 2:30-3:30 in Mrs. Carpenter's room.

Jogging Club is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. The Jogging Club promotes exercising, setting and reaching goals and encourages healthy habits. This club takes place on Wednesdays starting in September from 2:30 – 3:30.

Journey Club  

Students in 4th and 5th grade are invited to join Journey Club. Journey Club members are paired with a SHS student mentor. Students also develop and demonstrate leadership qualities while serving in younger grades at HFES.

Jr. BETA Club  

Students in 5th grade will be invited to join Jr. Beta Club based on their academic achievement and behavior. Meetings will be held once a month before every service project.

Jump Rope Team 

Jump Rope Team is open to all 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this team students must apply. The Jump Rope Team promotes cardiovascular endurance, coordination, and agility while learning basic jump roping skills and tricks. The team will also learn Double Dutch jump roping in team made routines set to upbeat music. This team takes place on Thursdays starting in January from 2:20 – 3:20.

Lacrosse Club

Lacrosse club is open to all 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Lacrosse club involves lacrosse drills and playing games!  This club is designed to teach the basics and have fun! This club takes place on the first Wednesdays of the month.

We will start in October and end in February.

Mind Benders Technology Club  

Mind Benders Technology Club is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Mind Benders members will learn about various pieces of technology and create projects that they will present at the countywide technology fair. This club takes place the first Wednesday of every month starting in September from 2:30 – 3:30.

News Crew  

The News Crew team is open to 5th grade students.  In order to become a member of this team, students must apply.  Students will operate video cameras, anchor the news, and assist with creating content for the morning new program.  Students in this club will report to the Media Center two mornings each week.

Reading Bowl Team 

The Reading Bowl is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Reading Bowl members read approximately 7 books from the Tome Society book list and compete in a countywide quiz bowl competition answering questions based on the books they have read. This club takes place on Thursdays starting in October from 2:45 – 3:30.

Safety Patrol  

Selected students in 5th grade will assist with morning arrival and dismissal in the afternoons. These students will help students with safe movements throughout the school grounds.

Science Olympiad  

Science Olympiad is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Science Olympiad members participate in a variety of science activities to help prepare them for a cool science competition held every year at the county level. Some of the events include Rock Hound, Water Rockets, Weather or Not, and Barge Building. The competitions include academic and engineering skills. This club takes place on Mondays starting in January from 2:45 – 4:00.

Soaring Singers Chorus 

Chorus is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. In order to become a member of this club students must apply. Chorus/Soaring Singers promotes the love of signing and performing. This club is tentative to take place on Mondays starting in October from 2:30 – 3:30.

Student Council  

Student Council consists of one elected student representative for each 5th grade homeroom. Club members develop and carry out service projects to benefit our community and school. They also serve as a liaison between the student body and the school to help make HFES a great place. Student Council meets on selected Thursday afternoons.

Thunderbird Theater Troupe

The Drama Club will be open to all 4th and 5th grade students.  In order to become a member of this club, you will need to fill out an application.  Drama Club will be a lot of fun learning about theater through improvisational skills, writing skits and putting on small performances.  The club is intended for students to learn more about the performing arts and work together to create and perform skits. The club will take place one Wednesday a month for the whole year with a small performance at the end.
