As I visited schools across our community today, the smiles shone brightly among students and teachers and staff celebrating the first day of our new school year.

Indian Knoll ES Celebrates National Character Education Award  IKES Award Meeting 7 (4)

Indian Knoll Elementary School today celebrated earning its first national character education award!

The school has been honored with a Promising Practices Award by Character.org, a national nonprofit organization that promotes developing positive character among students.  Indian Knoll is one of only 152 schools honored nationwide and one of only four in Georgia; Liberty Elementary School, a multi-year honoree, also was among those recognized.

CCSD Continues to Exceed State Averages on Georgia Milestones georgia milestones

Cherokee County School District students for the seventh consecutive year exceeded State averages on the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade and End-of-Course tests, with significant gains on most tests. 

The annual tests assess students’ mastery of Georgia Performance Standards, which set expectations for what lessons students will learn in each grade.  Teachers and administrators use the results to improve instructional best practices.

CCSD Congratulates Winners of Bus Driver of the Year Awards CCSD School Bus Driver of the Year 1 7 15 22

The Cherokee County School District this week congratulated the winners of its new Bus Driver of the Year Awards!

The awards recognize one outstanding school bus driver from each Innovation Zone (high school and feeder middle and elementary schools) and one from CCSD’s team of Special Education drivers; from this pool of winners, one overall CCSD winner was selected.
