School Councils
The Cherokee County Board of Education recognizes the role of the School Council is to bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators and bring parents into the school-based decision-making process. The School Council will advise and assist the principal in facilitating the development and monitoring of the progress of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). School Councils will operate under established administrative guidelines, as determined by the O.C.G.A. § 20-2-85, et seq. The structure, membership and responsibilities of the School Council will be in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 20-2-85 et seq., the Cherokee County School District Handbook for School Councils and its Bylaws and Guidelines.
