 mrs rich principal

I am humbled and honored to be named the 2021-2022 Principal of Macedonia Elementary School!

I am excited to share my 28 years of experience with you. Over the years, I have served the Cherokee County School District in multiple capacities. These include, secretary (6 years), classroom teacher-Ace Academy, Ball Ground Elementary and R.M. Moore Elementary (15 years), Academic Facilitator-Teasley Middle School (3 years), Teacher on Special Assignment-District (2 years), and Assistant Principal at Hasty Elementary Fine Arts Academy (in my 3rd year). Additionally, I hold degrees from Kennesaw State University (Bachelor of Science and Master of Education) and Brenau University (Educational Specialist Degree).

My husband and I are lifelong residents of Cherokee County. Our two sons, Nathan (22) and Seth (18) are both graduates of Cherokee High School and are currently attending college (Nathan @ Georgia College and Seth @ Chattahoochee Tech).

I met with Macedonia’s School Council earlier this week, and I shared with them my absolute commitment to the Macedonia Elementary students, families, staff and community!   My goal as a principal is to continue the tradition of excellence Macedonia is known for!  #1wildcatnation

Mrs. Patty Nay, a resident of the Macedonia community for the past fourteen years, was excited to join the staff at Macedonia Elementary in July 2017 as the school’s second Assistant Principal. Mrs. Nay received her undergraduate degree in Education, as well as a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Kennesaw State University.  She also holds a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.

Before transferring to Sixes Elementary in 1997, Mrs. Nay taught seven years for Marietta City Schools. After seven years at Sixes, Mrs. Nay was promoted to Assistant Principal, and she remained at Sixes for another seven years in that role before serving as Assistant Principal at Knox Elementary for six years.

Mrs. Nay and her husband, Mark, have been married for 31 years, and their children attended Macedonia, Creekland, and Creekview before going on to college. Their son, Ryan, is a recent graduate of UGA, and their daughter, Meghan, attends the University of Louisville.

Mrs. Estes is excited to be joining the #1 Wildcat Nation in July 2022 as Assistant Principal.  She is a 26-year educator with 24-years’ experience in elementary education. Her experience in Cherokee County School District has included Instructional Lead Strategist at Carmel Elementary (2 years) and Assistant Principal at Woodstock Middle School (3 years).  Prior to moving to Cherokee County in 2017, she worked in the Bibb County School District in Macon, Georgia for 22 years. Ms. Estes holds an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Berry College.

A life-long learner and encourager, Mrs. Estes is committed to supporting students, families, and teachers.  She finds excitement in helping all students reach their fullest potential. Her joy comes from celebrating the work, perseverance, creativity, and accomplishments of students and teachers.

Mrs. Estes and her husband Mike chose to move to Canton in 2017 to be near family and friends and have since become totally invested in this amazing community.  Together, they have six children, three daughters and a son in love, and four grandchildren.
