Meet Robert Harris, a new EIP teacher at OGES

Posted On: Thursday, August 23, 2018

I have served twenty four years in field of education as an elementary teacher, middle school assistant principal and an elementary principal in both Indiana and Michigan. After one too many winters in Michigan, my family and I fulfilled a life-long desire to move south and took advantage of a job offer/transfer for my wife and moved here to Cherokee County just last year. My wife and I have a wonderful family of four children, two girls and two boys. Our oldest graduated from Central Florida University and lives in Orlando, the two middle children are in college in Michigan, and my youngest is a student at Dean Rusk Middle School. I enjoy being with my family, family vacations, travel to new places, everything outdoors, boating, golfing, and volunteering at our church. Interesting facts about me include things like: former high school  girls assistant volleyball coach, elementary girls volleyball coach, elementary boys basketball coach, middle school athletic director, had my first “hole-in-one as a golfer two years ago, a huge fan of all things “Disney,” enjoy teaching adults how to trade stocks and foreign currency, love the ocean and snorkeling, have traveled through 17 of Mexico’s 31 states, and even bought a classic 1969 mustang in Mexico City and drove it all the way back to my former home in Indiana. I love being a part of the Oak Grove family and look forward to serving students, staff, and parents here at our wonderful school.
