CCSD Announces First-Ever Support Staff Employee of the Year Awards! Support Staff Employee of the Year Awards announcement 2 12 19

The Cherokee County School District next month will present its first-ever Support Staff Employee of the Year Awards!

The celebration on March 5 will honor one Support Staff Employee of the Year from each of CCSD’s schools, centers and central office divisions.  Each honoree will be recognized by the Superintendent of Schools and School Board members, receive a plaque and gifts of appreciation, and enjoy a reception with their family and Principal.

CCSD Message 1/31/19: Full February Break

The Superintendent of Schools has determined the February Break will be a full week-long break for students.

Due to a mild winter so far, resulting in the need to close schools for only one full day, coupled with positive long-range forecasts, all CCSD schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, through Friday, Feb. 22, for the student holiday.  CCSD central offices will remain open as previously scheduled.

Our first Sprouting STEMs lesson- Etowah students taught a lesson on Earthquakes and students worked to create the strongest structure possible using toothpicks and marshmallows that will withstand an “earthquake”.

News from Art Club

Art Club

Art Club started Wednesday, January 16th. Students from grades 3, 4, and 5 had a great time and got right into painting. “It’s over already”, one student stated when it was time to clean up. Discussing art by the artist Chihuly, students began painting water bottles that will later be turned into a 3 dimensional sculpture similar to Chihuly’s. If your child is interested in joining the Art Club, have them pick up a registration form from the Art room.

CCSD to Host Annual Job Fair on March 2 for Teachers, Bus Drivers & School Nutrition Workers CCSD 2019 Job Fair - March 2 - new

The Cherokee County School District will host its annual job fair on March 2 for hiring new teachers, bus drivers and school nutrition workers!

The fair is from 9 a.m. to noon at River Ridge High School in Woodstock, and offers job candidates the opportunity to meet CCSD and school leaders.  Candidates not only will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, but also the chance to ask questions.

And the Winner is "GOLDEN"

This student lead before school and during recess activity, the OGES News, allows students to be actively involved in all aspects of our Friday news broadcast. Students gather information from teachers, students, and administrators, write the script, add green screen images, speak on camera, film the broadcast, and then prepare the video for sharing with the entire school.

The Cherokee County School District presents an annual Agency Information Fair for parents, grandparents, teachers and caregivers to learn more about services in the community for children with special needs. CCSD Georgia Lottery PreK Classes Enrollment Begins in February Hasty ES preK 2018

Open enrollment for the Cherokee County School District’s Georgia Lottery Pre-K Classes program begins in February for an earlier start to the annual process.
The earlier start, which has been moved up from the spring, will provide parents more time to seek other preschool options should their 4-year-old not win a spot in the lottery drawing for the program’s limited seats.

Volunteers from the Home Depot Call Center in Kennesaw came out to OGES to help us with our farm to table garden.  They planted chives, brocolli, cilantro and red leaf lettuce.

ShelbyHi! My name is Shelby Gibbs. I graduated from Reinhardt University in May of 2017. This is my first teaching position, and I am so thankful and excited to work at Oak Grove. I have been married for 2 years, and we are currently awaiting the arrival of our first baby boy coming this month. I love this school and my students, and I cannot wait to see what the future
