PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
BETWEEN
THE CHEROKEE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
AND
ABM INDUSTRY GROUPS LLC
This agreement entered into on this 18th day of May, 2023, by and between The Cherokee County Board of Education, hereinafter referred to as the “School Board” and ABM Industry Groups LLC, hereinafter referred to as “ABM.”
WHEREAS, the School Board’s mission is to educate the emerging generation through learning environments designed to increase the performance of all students; and,
WHEREAS, one of the School District’s Priority Areas is Family, Partner and Community Engagement; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of ABM, founded in 1909 and a leading provider of facility solutions, is building value for its clients and their customers by helping decrease operating costs, reduce customer complaints, and improve customer's overall experience.
Now therefore in consideration of the covenants and conditions set forth herein, the parties agree as follows:
ARTICLE I
The parties agree that the foregoing recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference:
ARTICLE II
The School Board will:
1. Promote applicable ABM programs, such as job opportunities with ABM serving within CCSD schools and facilities, using existing communication channels, such as the Virtual Community Bulletin Board, as School Board Policy permits.
2. Coordinate an open application process each spring for ABM’s college scholarships for CCSD graduating high school seniors.
3. Form a committee of retired educators and ABM representatives to select the college scholarship recipients from the pool of applicants.
4. Arrange for the presentation by ABM of its college scholarships at a School Board meeting.
4. Explore/pursue joint grant opportunities in both parties’ best interest.
ARTICLE III
ABM will:
1. Provide a $1,000 college scholarship to one qualified graduating high school senior from each of CCSD’s six high schools, for a total of $6,000.
2. Work with CCSD and a committee of retired educators and ABM representatives to award these six scholarships.
3. Present these scholarships at a School Board meeting.
4. Explore/pursue joint grant opportunities in both parties’ best interest.
5. Support CCSD recognition programs of staff and students through sponsorships whenever possible, including CCSD’s Superintendent’s Leadership Symposium and CCSD’s Support Staff Employee of the Year Awards
6. Accept all children/interested participants for participation within its programs without regard to their gender, race, political affiliation, age, national origin or handicapping condition or any other discrimination recognized and prohibited by State or Federal Law. Children/participants with handicaps must be provided all necessary levels of supervision and must be included within the activities of the partnering organization. As a result of this Agreement, ABM must adhere to all local, State or Federal laws regarding education.
7. Agree to hold harmless and indemnify the School Board against any claims, demands, losses or damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, which may arise as a result of this Agreement.
ARTICLE IV
The term of this Agreement is May 18, 2023 through June 30, 2024. Agreement may be terminated by either party upon thirty (30) days written notice to the other party with or without cause. All notice of this Agreement shall be given to the Superintendent of Cherokee County Schools at PO Box 769, Canton, Georgia, 30169, and to the Regional Vice President of ABM at 4151 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Suite 600, Atlanta, Georgia, 30019.
