Bascomb ES Earns Garden Grant from Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation
Sprouts Farmers Market employees join Bascomb teachers and CCSD administrators to celebrate the grant award in support of Bascomb's learning garden at the school.
Congratulations to Bascomb Elementary School for winning a grant from the Sprouts Farmers Market foundation! The $8,500 donation will help Bascomb enhance its school learning garden and purchase cooking equipment so teachers and students can learn about using what they grow in recipes and meals.
Bascomb ES teachers Julie Baker, who wrote the grant proposal, Kendle Flint and Marsha Mattson, along with Principal Dr. Carolyn Daugherty, were presented with the check on Saturday at the Sprouts Farmers Market store on Towne Lake Parkway in the midst of displays of fresh produce. Store Manager Adam Sokol presented the teachers with a check and signage for the garden. Matt Freedman, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Operations, and Dr. Ashley Kennerly, Director, School Leadership and Operations, also attended the event in support of the school.
