CCSD 2025 SAT Scores Increase, Top Nation and State

CCSD 2025 SAT Scores Increase, Top Nation and State

Cherokee County School District’s SAT scores for the Class of 2025 increased and continue to top national and statewide results!

The CCSD Class of 2025 earned an average total score of 1085 on the curriculum-based college entrance and placement exam, according to results released today by the College Board.  The 2025 score is an increase from 1083 in 2024 and further widens CCSD’s margin over the national public school average by 89 points and the state by 56 points.

“Congratulations to our Class of 2025 on this impressive academic accomplishment!” Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said.  “This is a testament to the quality education provided by CCSD teachers from elementary to middle to high school and a School Board that is laser-focused on academics and excellent outcomes.”

The SAT, the most recognized measure of achievement for high school students, measures critical reading and mathematics abilities.  It includes two 800-point sections: Evidence Based Reading & Writing (ERW) and Mathematics, with a possible total score of 1600; a third section, a writing exam, is optional.

The CCSD Class of 2025 average ERW score is 557 (up from 553) -- 31 points higher than Georgia and 49 over U.S., and the Math is 528 (down slightly from 529) -- 26 over Georgia and 40 over the U.S.

CCSD’s six traditional high schools also each topped national and state averages on the SAT.  Their scores are: Cherokee HS, 1067 (down from 1078); Creekview HS, 1108 (up from 1101); Etowah HS, 1072 (up from 1058); River Ridge HS, 1081 (up from 1075); Sequoyah HS, the highest average in CCSD, 1113 (up from 1098); and Woodstock HS, 1079 (down from 1092).  CCSD’s online high school, i-Grad Virtual Academy, scored 1007 (up from 989).

While CCSD students continue to outperform peers on the SAT, the district also has increased the number of students taking this important post-secondary readiness assessment.  CCSD increased participation to 1,889 students – an additional 55 students from 2024, and Georgia climbed to 55% participation from 52%.

While most high school students take the SAT, some choose to take the ACT, a different college entrance exam, and some students take both; ACT scores will be released late this fall.
