CCSD Class of 2022 ACT Scores Top Nation, State

CCSD Class of 2022 ACT Scores Top Nation, State

The Cherokee County School District Class of 2022 ACT scores topped national and state averages!

The class scored an outstanding 22.2 average, topping Georgia’s 21.6 and the Nation’s 19.8 averages on the competitive college entrance and placement examination.  The scores ranked CCSD in the top 10% in the State.

Students earn a score on a scale of 1 to 36.  The average CCSD scores by subject on the ACT used to calculate the overall compositive average are: English, 21.4; Math, 21.6; Reading, 23.1; Science, 22.2.  The CCSD average is down one point from 23.2, mirroring the state’s one-point decrease from 22.6

“Congratulations to the Class of 2022 for yet again succeeding despite the pandemic’s obstacles during your time in high school,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “I’m incredibly proud of our teachers and staff who rose to the challenge of ensuring our students did not fall behind.”

The ACT is taken in lieu of or along with the SAT, and the Class of 2022’s ACT scores follow strong SAT results released earlier this fall.  The number of students in CCSD’s Class of 2022 who took the ACT increased to 1,174 up from 1,007 for the Class of 2021, but still a decline from 1,476 for the Class of 2020, which included pre-pandemic testing.

Scores from all six of CCSD’s high schools ranked high among Georgia high schools and surpassed national averages: Cherokee HS, 21.1; Creekview HS, 22.3; Etowah HS, 22.9 – the highest overall score in CCSD; River Ridge HS, 22.6; Sequoyah HS, 22.6; and Woodstock HS, 21.8.
