CCSD High School National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Advance to Finalists
All seven Cherokee County School District 2024 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists have advanced as Finalists!
They are: of Creekview HS, Peter Greenwell, Laura Hand and Kinley Sikes; of River Ridge HS, Rylan Radziewicz; of Sequoyah HS, Livana Lekas and Valor Lekas; and of Woodstock HS, Xavier Olsen.
Less than 1 percent of the nation’s 1.5 million high school seniors earn National Merit Finalist recognition. Finalists now will compete for 7,500 scholarships worth about $30 million to be awarded in the spring.
“We’re so proud to see these outstanding students advance in this prestigious scholarship program,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “Achieving National Merit recognition is the culmination of years of dedication to learning, leading and serving their community. Congratulations also to their teachers and schools for the role you have played in their success. We wish you all the best as you complete your senior year and pursue your college and career goals.”
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation oversees the renowned competition and names finalists based on exceptional 2022 PSAT scores and SAT scores that confirm that excellent performance, academic achievements, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment and honors, as well as an endorsement and recommendation from a high school official and an essay.
