CCSD Senior Earns Judy Johnson Memorial Scholarship
A Cherokee County School District Class of 2024 graduating senior is this year’s winner of the Judy Johnson Memorial Scholarship presented by the Cherokee County School District’s School Nutrition Association!
Sequoyah High School senior Hunter Smith is the recipient of the 2024 scholarship, which honors the service of a dedicated CCSD School Nutrition employee, Judy Johnson. It provides at least one scholarship per year in the amount of $500 to a CCSD graduating senior or recent graduate now attending college.
Applications are solicited by the association, and then reviewed and scored by its scholarship committee made up of employees and community members.
Hunter is dual enrolled at Kennesaw State University, where he plans to continue his studies to earn a business degree and pursue a career as an entrepreneur.
“Opening my own company will be no easy task, but applying the hard work and principles I have already learned and will learn at KSU will allow to overcome the hurdles I will face as an entrepreneur,” he said.
A four-year member of Sequoyah’s varsity baseball team and its Beta Club, Hunter earned All Region second team pitcher honors his junior year. Hunter also is active in his church, serving as an usher and supporting youth programs, and works part-time at The Golf Club at Bradshaw Farm.
