CCSD Students Earn Honors at State Technology Careers Competition
Cherokee County School District students earned honors at the state Technology Student Association career skills competition, with top winners advancing to nationals!
The annual statewide event offers middle and high school students the opportunity to compete in a variety of contests focused on technology related career skills. More than 2,500 students competed at the state event, with top ranking students advancing to the national Technology Student Association (TSA) contest this summer.
Seventeen Creekview High School students earned spots at nationals! Their teacher coach is Terri Hancock.
Winton Bowman placed second in Music Production and he, along with Franky Diaz and Clement Smith earned third place in Audio Podcast.
The school’s Manufacturing Prototype team of Holden Berumen, Carter Canfield, Christopher Nash and Joshua Smith placed fifth, as did the Chapter Team of Camden Brookshire, Bailey Deisz, Nate Hancock, Benjaminh Nguyen, Ishan Sharma and Joshua Smith.
Creekview’s Legacy Chapter team of Robert Bagwell, Nate Hancock and Joshua Smith earned seventh, and its Drone Challenge team of Benjaminh Nguyen, Matthew Short and Ishan Sharma placed ninth.
In addition to Creekview’s numerous individual and team honors, two students also won election to statewide office with the organization. Junior Cade Smith is the new state president, and sophomore Nate Hancock is Sergeant at Arms.
“This marked the largest state conference ever held by Georgia TSA,” Ms Hancock said. “The officer candidates faced significant odds, with Cade contending against two opponents, and Nate competing against 16 students for one of the five additional officer positions. Our competition included various STEM academies and career technical schools, making our achievements all the more significant.”
Three Woodstock High School students earned top 10 honors, with Logan Reale placing ninth in CAD Engineering, and Carson Bove and Julian Bove placing 10th in Biotechnology. Their teacher coach is Melanie Salas.
River Ridge High School students Alyssa Peacock and Phoenix Dang placed eighth in Data Science and Analytics. Their teacher coach is Judi Haggerty.
Cherokee High School senior Nick Adams placed eighth in Transportation Modeling. His teacher coach is Earl Pinkett.
