CCSD Students Selected for All-State Theatre Program

CCSD Students Selected for All-State Theatre Program

Three Cherokee County School District students have been selected for the prestigious All-State Theatre Program.

Sequoyah High School senior Valor Lekas and juniors Noah Popp and Ava Grace Roberts will participate in this year’s elite program.  It culminates with performances at the 2024 Georgia Thespian Conference, which is attended by high school theatre students and educators statewide.  They are the only CCSD students named to this year’s cast and crew.

Ava successfully auditioned for the cast of the conference’s opening and closing performances.  Noah and Valor were selected through a competitive application process for roles with the conference’s crew.  Noah will design and operate lighting systems for the event, and Valor will design and manage sets for its performances.  They are students in the Sequoyah HS theatre program led by teacher Cindy Humphlett.

“Congratulations on this impressive accomplishment – we’re so proud to know you will be representing Sequoyah and CCSD at the state theatre conference,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “Earning All-State honors significant dedication by theatre students to learn their craft.  Congratulations to Cindy on this achievement for Sequoyah and the continuation of its longtime reputation as an outstanding theatre program.”

Between now and the conference in February in Columbus, students selected for the cast and crew will be busy preparing for their roles and participating in rehearsals.  The Cherokee County School Board and Dr. Hightower will recognize the students and Ms. Humphlett at an upcoming School Board meeting.
