CCSD Students Win at State Career Skills Competition
Cherokee County School District students earned top honors at statewide career skills competitions!
High school students in various Career Pathway programs have the opportunity to join SkillsUSA co-curricular teams and participate in statewide learning and leadership events and competitions.
A Cherokee High School welding program team earned first place in the metal working display competition at the recent SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership Conference. Julio Rutiaga-Gamero and Hunter Newberry completed the winning entry, and their advisor is teacher Darryl Jones.
A River Ridge High School audio video technology and film program team earned third place in the event’s audio/radio production competition and fifth place in video news production. Aidan Nemec and Davis Manwaring earned the bronze medal, and Christopher Himiob, Talisha Morales, Leigha Samuel and Mia Stiefel earned the fifth-place honors. Their advisor is teacher James Dinsmoor.
“Congratulations to each of you for earning state honors in recognition of your exceptional career readiness skills – I’m so proud of you!” Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said. “Our Career Pathway program offers our students 41 different options for career education classes and co-curricular teams like SkillsUSA, with plans to continue to grow.
