CCSD Teacher Elected President of National Career Education Association

CCSD Teacher Elected President of National Career Education Association

A Cherokee County School District teacher has been elected to lead a national career education association!

Callie Davis, who leads the River Ridge HS Career Pathway Healthcare Science program for Diagnostics: Clinical Laboratory Science, was selected by her peers to serve as president-elect of the Health Science Educators Association, the educator membership arm of the National Consortium for Health Science Education.  She will serve two years as president-elected, followed by two years as president.  Congratulations to Ms. Davis and thank you to our School Board for its investment in our talented and dedicated educators who ensure our students learn more, grow more, and achieve more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

A 20-year educator, Ms. Davis has taught science for 14 years and healthcare science for six years since making the switch from her first career as a medical technologist.  Her election to national office is the latest of many impressive accolades for Ms. Davis, who earlier this year was named a national ambassador for the National Consortium for Health Science Education -- one of only 10 teachers nationwide chosen for this honor.  She also was selected to serve as a workshop presenter at the National Health Science Conference in Ohio.

In March, the Career Pathway program she leads at River Ridge HS achieved Healthcare Industry Certification, which recognizes high school programs that meet rigorous standards set by industry experts – it’s the program of its kind in Georgia to earn this recognition.  In addition to leading the school’s healthcare science program, Ms. Davis serves as teacher advisor for the school’s HOSA Future Health Professionals student organization.

“I’m passionate about expanding opportunities for educators to connect, share best practices, and deliver high-quality, industry-aligned instruction to students,” Ms. Davis said.  “My vision is to strengthen partnerships, grow career-based learning experiences, and ensure our programs meet the evolving needs of the healthcare workforce.  Together, we can empower educators not only as teachers but as leaders, advocates, and innovators.  Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey — I’m excited for what’s ahead!”
