Celebrating National School Counseling Week: Robert Arsenault of Clark Creek ES STEM Academy!

It’s National School Counseling Week … and the perfect time to celebrate our newly named 2026 Counselor of the Year Zone Winners!  We value our school counselors’ unparalleled talent and unmatched dedication in their role to ensure our students learn more, grow more, and achieve more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.  Each day this week, we will spotlight an amazing counselor selected to represent their Zone colleagues as the best of the best. Please join us in congratulating and thanking Etowah Innovation Zone Counselor of the Year Robert Arsenault of Clark Creek ES STEM Academy!

What inspired you to become a school counselor?
I have always had a heart to serve others. My decision to enter the school system as a professional school counselor stemmed from a deep desire to help and serve today's youth.  With so much vying for their attention, I wanted to provide these kids with a safe person to talk to and to help them deal with the complex emotions and situations they face.

What is most rewarding about being a school counselor?
Being a part of something so much bigger than any one individual.  I have the opportunity to work with some of the best adults and students in education.  When I see students successfully implement strategies to achieve their goals, I call it a "payday."

How do you elevate the excellence in your school?
One word: relationships!  I develop relationships with our students, families, and staff.  It is impossible to help or to serve someone if you do not know who they are or what they need.
